First Point will be coming to an end at 30 June 2016 and this website will no longer be monitored.

As you may know, since 2010 First Point has been the front door service for homelessness in the ACT. Last year, the ACT Government paid for research, which found that First Point achieved its mission. That is, First Point ensured the most vulnerable families and individuals in the ACT received priority access to homelessness services, despite there being many more people needing emergency accommodation than there were places available. Client evaluations also showed that 85% of people said they felt listened to and respected when they contacted First Point.

Earlier this year, the ACT Government announced that the First Point contract will end on 30 June 2016. A new service called OneLink will be operational from the 1st July 2016. This service is the central intake and referral service covering emergency accommodation, social housing, child, youth and family services along with individual support.

This means that service provision at First Point will end on 30 June 2016. Placement in accommodation and supports will continue to be based on a priority basis so it is important that you inform One Link if your circumstances change.
